AIA Thailand is a leading life insurer in Thailand with the biggest market share based on total premiums from all lines of business. Collaborating with Aleph, AIA Thailand launched an app that is able to scan users’ vital signs, track their health and assess their vitality to increase their quality of life.
Through concept design, research and testing, Aleph helped AIA to innovate on features not previously available on any other apps in Thailand.
Using design sprints, we conceptualised, tested, validated and recommended several innovative features such as face scanning to measure users’ vitals, using the rear camera flash to measure pulse & microvibrations, as well as a full body scan.
Understanding the different types of users and their unique user journeys, we found that there was a mistrust in those features’ legitimacy in being able to provide accurate health data. We therefore recommended explanations of those features as well as using a numerical score instead of textual summaries in order to be and to appear more precise.
We understood users’ concerns in regards to data privacy especially since health data is very personal. We therefore championed transparency to build trust with users and using rewards as incentives to reinforce that trust. These rewards were also used as means to incentivise users to frequently perform health scans; a feature integral to the app.
